This has been a regular occurence since Monday 12/8/97 when at least 500 flew past in the same direction. Rumpke Mountain lies about 6 miles NW and I believe these birds are in transit from a days foraging there to their nightly roost.

2:30 PM - 4 PM - Retuned one more time and did find the Golden Eagle. It was not in the lone bare tree on the hillside, but in another bare tree to the left up against a tree that still has leaves. We watched it with a scope from various vantages points for about 30 min and it moved around to show front, back and side. We then saw it fly off and were able to clearly see the in-flight back and the underside.

Did not see the Iceland Gull.

This bird is located in northern Brown County, Ohio, just east of the intersection of Routes 50 & 68. The reference should be to page 76 Section C1, at least for the 1989 version of the DeLorme Gazetteer.

Location: Indian Creek Wildlife Area

Other Birders: Jack Stenger, Jay Stenger, Kathy McDonald

Jack Stenger pointed out a Glossy Ibis to his father, Jay Stenger, this morning at Indian Creek Wildlife Area. They were able to identify the bird at the time only as a dark Plegadis. When Kathy McDonald and I met them there this afternoon, we were able to get close enough with the Questar to call the bird a Glossy. We'll see whether the Bird Records Committee agrees with us.

Indian Creek is at DeLorme page 65, block C1. Take U.S. 50 east from Fayetteville, about 1 mile. Turn right onto Snowhill Road, and follow it as it makes a 90-degree left turn. After another mile or so, turn right again onto Campbell Road. The bird was feeding in a pond on the left, about half way between the first (left side) and second (right side) parking lots.
