I am stumped

Just witnessed a smallish shorebird at. Stonelick Beach.about the same sive as the swallows that occasionally land.Slatty grey overall, not brown or beige at all, strong white eye ring, yellow legs, white throat morphing into an unstreaked grey/ light black belly.unable to get an image as it flushed when the Killdeer took off.Any ideas, closest I could get in eastern field guides was a purple sandpiper but that still does not look correct.
