Rufous Hummingbird in Taylor Mill KY

Post from BIRDKY listserv with instructions for visitors (with minor edits to protect contact info on open webpage):

“Last Friday, I banded a HY M Rufous Hummingbird at the home of Tom Ewing, who lives on McCowan Drive off Pride Parkway in Taylor Mill (Kenton County).

Visitation protocol is as follows: contact Tom via phone call or text at (859)four zero nine-1973 to OK/coordinate a time of visit. I have placed his house number in comments of the eBird report (a few nice pics of the bird by Brian Wulker there), which will provide you with directions. Tom is not familiar with birding community, so please be particularly careful to follow his preferences and desires. I am not sure if he wants to be home when visitors come. Could very well be that weekend will suit him better. The feeders are on the deck in back yard, accessible via gate on left side of house. Bird seems quite tame, so quiet observation from side of yard or deck should work well.

Thanks to Kate Slankard with Ky. Dept. of Fish and Wildlife for this hummer referral.

Stopped and saw the Rufous Hummingbird today. Beautiful little bird. Has been in the yard since October. Texted Tom yesterday and said I would like to see the bird. No problem. He gave me a time to come out. Very nice guy.
