There were three male Bobolinks foraging  amongst the dandelions in the north soccer field. They were between the unmowed area and the soccer goals. Also had a first summer male Blue Grosbeak in the trees below the U. S. Bank building. Be careful driving in because there were Killdeer chick’s running around on the main road.

A group of 12 white pelicans were floating downriver at 7am this morning. They were closer to the Kentucky bank than ours.

Lots of warblers right now too: Prothonotary, Parula, Black and White, Yellow throated, Yellow, Prairie, in the yard this morning on my walks back and forth to the car. Loons have been calling most evenings. An Osprey has been hanging out in the backwater estuary but I didn’t see/hear him this morning.

For the 2nd year in a row, I had to board over my bay window because a parula warbler wants to fight himself in the window, despite multiple bird decals on the window and cats inside the glass.  While it is super cool to see the little guy stand on the hand rail 3 feet away or on the window ledge 6” away, it is disheartening to see all of the time and energy spent challenging his reflection.
