DESCRIPTION:Title: The 13-year Cicada Brood XXII: a Periodical Problem \nDate and Time: Wednesday\, October 21st\, 7:00PM \nLocation: Sharon Centre in Sharon Woods\, 11450 Lebanon Road\, Sharonville\, OH 45241 and Zoom (see link below) \nSpeaker: Dr. Gene Kritsky \nOrganizer: Ryan Jorgensen at jorgensen28ryan@gmail.com \nThe periodical cicada Brood XXII is the smallest of Ohio’s broods\, and the most recent to be discovered. The brood has two disjunct populations\, one in Mississippi and Louisiana and another in Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky. The southern population was first recognized in 1845 by Dr. David Phares. It was unique to entomologists as Phares claimed it had a 13-year life cycle and not the 17-year life cycle of the other known broods. The northern population was not recognized until 2001\, and its discovery documented the only 13-year brood to occur in Ohio.
