ASO Monthly Meeting – The Evolution of Avian Biodiversity
Title: The Evolution of Avian Biodiversity and Molecular Phylogenetics

Dr. Tyler Imfeld, assistant professor of biology at Xavier University, is a museum-trained ornithologist whose research uses natural history specimens to study the evolution of avian biodiversity. His lab uses DNA extracted from specimens to explore the evolutionary family history of bird lineages and uses this information to study the evolution of anatomy and behavior. This program will summarize the Imfeld Lab’s major breakthroughs in the evolution of the songbirds of the Americas and will showcase ongoing research in collaboration with students at XU.
