October Meeting – Great Parks

October 25 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

[This is a Zoom meeting – information for joining the meeting is below]

Did you know that Great Parks has a levy on the November ballot? Please join us for our October program to learn more about what’s happening at Great Parks and what they hope to accomplish with the proposed levy. Bret Henninger and Jessica Spencer will share a little about Great Parks, some tidbits about their Master Plan, and some details about a few conservation projects that are in the pipeline that would be funded if the proposed levy would be successful. They will also cover one of the Park’s most exciting projects – restoration of the former golf course at Shawnee Lookout.

Bret Henninger is Chief Operating Officer at Great Parks of Hamilton County. He is responsible for the functions focusing on service delivery, including park maintenance, care of physical and natural assets, planning, programming, human resources and law enforcement. He has a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from The Ohio State University and a Master of Public Administration from Northern Kentucky University. Bret began his work in 1995 on the conservation staff at Great Parks.

Jessica Spencer is Director of Natural Resources at Great Parks of Hamilton County where she has worked since 2014. Her role coordinates a team of specialists to oversee programs addressing conservation, restoration, wildlife management, urban forestry, nature trails, watersheds and sustainability. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Art from Syracuse University and received her Master of Environmental Sciences from Miami University. Jessica grew up in the area and volunteers with several local organizations including the Cincinnati Wildflower Society.
