Pterodroma hasitata
As reported in Lindhahl 1899, one bird was found on the Ohio River at the Augusta ferry, on October 4, 1898. It was kept alive by feeding minnows for ten days, but then died. A second bird, a female, was captured on the Ohio River at the east end of Cincinnati; it died soon afterwards. The skin from that bird is in the collection of the Geier Collections and Research Center of the Cincinnati Museum Center, specimen number CMC-B-28336. The third bird, a young male, was captured after it hit a glass globe on a bridge over the river at Cincinnati; it lived one day after capture. The skin from that bird is in the collection of the American Museum of Natural History, skin number 749105. An extensive discussion of these birds can be found in Whan 2003, supplemented by Foppe 2006.
