Common Raven

Corvus corax

There are no specific records of this species, but Rufus Haymond (Haymond 1869) states “The raven was once numerous in this section, yet now so rare that I have seen but one during the past twenty years.” Amos Butler (Butler 1897) states “As far as I can learn, the last Ravens were seen in Franklin County in 1868. I know of no records later for any part of southeastern Indiana.” And Frank Langdon (Langdon 1879) states “The seventh extirpated species is the Raven, which is said to have been a common resident of this section in former times.”
