We have six records of this rare duck:
Two at Brookville Lake near the dam, April 15 and 16, 1989 (citation needed).
One on the Great Miami River in Dayton, January 14, 1996 (not reported in The Ohio Cardinal).
A male and a female on the Great Miami River in Dayton, January 13 through 26, 2003 (Whan 2003a).
One, a female or immature, at the Camp Dennison gravel pits (now called Grand Valley Preserve) November 27 and 28, 2005 (Whan 2005).
One female on the Ohio River at New Richmond (seen in both Ohio and Kentucky), February 26, 2008 (McCormac 2008; Palmer-Ball and McNeely, 2008 (photograph on cover), accepted by KBRC Yandell 2009).
One adult male on the Great Miami River at Lost Bridge, January 30, 2022 (not reported in The Ohio Cardinal, but several reports with photographs on eBird).
