Long-tailed Jaeger

Stercorarius longicaudus

We have four records, all from Harsha Lake in East Fork State Park, Clermont County.

The first was present for only a single day, September 5, 2006. Accepted by OBRC (Kemp 2007a).

Another was observed August 30 through September 7, 2021. What was determined to be a different bird, through photographs, was at the same location September 11 of that year. Both records were accepted by OBRC (Cefus 2022b). Caldwell 2022 just says “A long stay by one in Clermont produced many records with photos.” eBird records show one present including September 7, 8, 9 and 11 with no indication that it could be different birds.

The final record is from September 19 through 23, 2025 (eBird, photographed; no published account as of November 11, 2025).
