Colibri thalassinus
Mexican Violetear normally inhabits forested regions in southern Mexico and Central America, but it appears annually farther north, mostly in south Texas. We have one record of this vagrant, which visited a feeder in August 25-27, 1999, Taylor Mill, Kenton County from August 25 through August 27, 1999. It was videotaped and photographed, establishing Kentucky’s first record (McNeely 1999b).Accepted by KBRC (McNeely 2001).
