Tyrannus verticalis
A male was found on a Cincinnati Bird Club field trip on May12, 1979, and was described as “bright red head, yellow body and black wings with distinct wing bars – one white, one yellow.” The song was also heard (Maslowski June 10, 1979, apparently not published elsewhere).
A female was at a residence in Dayton, January 10 through 19, 2016 (many eBird reports, with photos; mentioned with a photo in Caldwell 2016; accepted by OBRC Cefus 2022c).
2025 brought two records, both based on eBird photographs: a female at Patriot, Switzerland County on January 25, 2025 and a male near Batavia, Clermont County, on April 20, 2025.
